Doing research on oil level after oil change, some say check the oil level after putting it in. Level should be between top/bottom X's. But they don't run the scoot for a minute to let it warm up.
I did. And the oil level is right near the top X. Is that too much?

That's fine. I prefer it at that level. Every ounce you can get in the motor without overfilling is good imo. It depends on the oil for cooling and already has so little to work with.

If you have removed the 'filter' then it will be empty when the oil is added if you do not run the engine afterward to fill it. It is not a lot of volume, so should not cause any problem. Some just use the drainplug on the opposite side to drain the sump. Doing both fittings will change more oil, and allow more old oil to drain. The capacity specified varies from 750ml to 800ml depending on manufacturer. As the humanshield stated, add as much as possible without overfilling. The level should be checked on level ground, on the center stand, with the dipstick 'dropped' into the opening, NOT screwed in all the way. tom

I was curious to why some videos show them taking out the filter, while others take out the bolt on the opposite side.
Yeah, changed it on center stand as level as i could get it. Next time i'll drain from both sides?

As per the normal standard, there are multiple conflicting recommendations about the 'filter'. Some say to clean the filter at each change, others specifiy a time/km combination or limit. I'm not real sure it matters, but doing the 'filter' side in addition to the 'drainplug' side does remove more of the used oil. I did it at the first change for any machines I bought without having knowledge of most recent service performed. I wanted to make sure there were no 'chunks' of engine being circulated or caught by the screen, and that it was not clogged. Your choice as to doing one or both on servicing, based upon usage. If you run it hard, better to get as much changed as possible. OTOH, if you are a less demanding rider, putting at slower speeds, doing just the drain plug side should suffice as the remaining in the filter would be diluted. tom
