I just recently upgraded my GY6 with a big bore kit. I'm having issues with hard starting as though the compression is way too high, it kills the battery before it starts. But will start every time with a jump start, as though to give more power to the starting phase. Can anybody advise me on a part to change or an adjustment to make to cure that problem

My first thought would be to check the battery condition.

As to the OP, I would suggest a battery test as well.

Battery test and make sure you are grounded properly two is the best way , one from the battery to the frame make sure you sand the powdercoat off so get a good connection . Then Battery ground to engine ...

Of course the first best answer is get a better battery. I haven’t shopped for batt. For these scooters (yet) but for the most part battery’s are a matter of “ how good do you want to spend”. When I look at battery’s I look for the cold cranking amps. The more the better. There is a very good chance, regardless of battery, that you will have to get a high torque starter in the near future. I hope you have switched over to “premium “ gas. I would recommend 93 octane. Your little engine started out at a 10.5 to 1 compression ratio. You now have increased to cylinder volume by more the 50% so you have increased your compression a great deal.
You also have to watch your mixture. These bikes are normally jetted lean, and now you have a lot more displacement. Running lean means running HOT. Personally, I run the bikes with BBKs a little rich to help cool them run some plug chops to see where you are.
something else I do ( I may be the only person in the world doing this (G)),is I run an “direct ground”. Basicly I have a heavy ground wire going directly from the starter to the battery. But then I’m in Michigan and when it gets cold, I need everything I can get!
