New to scoots, BRAND NEW.
so i bought a bore kit to upgrade the 50cc i got. installed it all good. went to start the moped, the crank would turn once, then stop for a second, turn again, then stop. i did this twice and now the eletic start makes a buzzing sound and nothin moves. the kick start now has no trnsion to it. so i took the cylinders apart, found i had a torn gasket. would that cause these things to happen or did i mess up extremely badly.

Nope! You have the Cam out of Time and the motor rotates over until the Piston is Hitting The Valves and preventing the engine from turning any further.and the buzz from the starter solenoid. You could have contacted the Valve bad enough that you have bent them. hop not Good Luck

Just my 2 cents worth , always turn engine over by hand before using starter or kicker...

Whenever I have assembled, I use the cooling fan to turn the crankshaft over a couple turns. With the sparkplug removed, you should not need a lot of torque, and can turn the crankshaft readily by hand. This allows the cam chain, cam gear and tensioner to adjust to each other without excessive force. If I cannot turn the engine over a few turns without too much effort, I know something is wrong. Doing two turns allows me to check that the camshaft comes back into its proper timing position and has not been mis-adjusted by me on installation. To check, remove the fan shroud, and the cam cover. Turn the thing over by hand observing movement of the rockers/followers, the valves, etc. Pull the plug for ease of turning. tom
