My boyfriend and I both got taotao scooters. His wheel lock works fine, turn the wheel to the left, turn key to lock position, take key out and the wheel is locked. Mine, I turn the wheel to the left, turn the key to the lock position and it locks my key in the ignition. I can turn the key out of that position fine but i can not take the key out when trying to lock the wheel. Is there any easy fix for that or do I need to replace the ignition assembly

Look at boyfriends scooter. Follow the lock down. You will probably see a pin or rod extend. Compare that to yours. I'm betting you have some obstruction preventing the pin / rod from engaging completely which would not allow the key to turn all the way to the lock position and be released.

I think you might remove the front cover just below the headlight and take a look at all the wires & cables & hoses there. If misrouted or obstructing the tree from turning all the way, you'll likely have the trouble you report and snaker mentions. Binding, just a bit, on the 'pin' that extends in LOCK can prevent full extension, and make the key un-removable. If this is a new machine, will the seller fix this under warranty? If not, you should be able to get a full set of ignition, gas cap, and 'seat' locks for less than $10US. You may have to wait, or search to find at that price, but they are out there. tom
