Go to Topic Mark Read View Threaded Timing and Loose rockers HALP Robert Smith /senpaislammed Oct 05, 2018 10:47AM Brother in law decided to rip his Scooter apart to change the head.
To start I am mechanically inclined and work on vehicles daily
This has me stumped
He didnt make sure the piston was TDC when removing.
I understand the marking on the fly wheel but have read 100 different people giving different responses to how it should be lined up to the block
Secondly,
Iets say I do have the timing set,
The can shaft installed 2 small holes facing north and south, Larger hole facing west towards me. The rockers have UNBELIEVABLE amounts of play. To the extent that adjusting is basically useless. The other side of the gear has an "S" Carved into it.
I understand how to do the valve adjustment but it's not possible when the rockers have that much play.
Any suggestions on where I messed up?

139QMB motors use 2 size valve lengths. There's a chance his motor stock had 69mm long valves when the new head has 64mm valves. This will leave ~5mm gap between the tappet and the valve. If so, you can simply change the rocker arms with these rocker arms.

You hit the nail on the head, I was just looking at exactly what you said and went wait a dang minute and saw. haha I appreciate it so much!
