Hi all, I'm doing a lot of wrenching on my jeep and motorcycles but am new to how things work on the Yamaha Neo's 50cc 4-stroke scooter we just got my daughter. She's complaining that she rides faster than her friends uphill but they overtake her downhill and her social status is apparently in jeopardy I understand that there must be something restricting the speed/rev. Does anyone know how it works on these scooters - is it the ECU messing with the ignition or FI or is it something in the variator? ECUs are damn expensive for these engines so I'm hoping that a new variator will do the trick and I ordered a Malossi Multivar. Will that give us the desired effect or will I have to do other stuff too? Any hints would be highly appreciated. If I'm posting this in the wrong place or I should look at some great threads that are already out there, please let me know.
