What can I use for sealing the gearbox plug bolt to the gearbox? Minarelli stretched shortcase engine.
I changed the gearbox oil not long ago, I was at a friends house today and while parked in the driveway, I seen one drop of oil, and there was a tear drop hanging at the end of the plug bolt. So I borrowed a 13mm socket and tightened the bolt to where I feel if I go tighter the plastic washer plug ring will crack then I'll be in bigger trouble.
Replacement?
And I do hope it is the washer because i have it on pretty tight and hope it is not a gearbox gasket.

Stock, mine had aluminum washers. You should be able to get new plastic or copper washers at an auto parts or hardware store to try.

Learn something new everyday. I had no idea about this, thought that the washer just flushes with the plug hole but this is not the case, the nylon washer has to seat perfectly into the casing around the plug hole and I had it lopsided, couldn't tell from the cvt side but I looked from the muffler side I seen that the washer was sticking out lopsided. Loosened the bolt, push on the washer with a long screw driver, it popped into place and then I tightened the plug bolt. Should be sealed now. I will put a paper towel down.
