the gear that the starter spins and pushes my belt into the variator, (Not sure what it's called)
It keeps stripping. I have gone through 2 Not sure how to add pics in this forum.
Basically the variator slides on then belt then said piece. it runs and drives for awhile then the nut spins off and said piece is stripped to he'll.
My question WHY?

To add a picture you will have to press insert image and follow the instructions. or press the photo
But you mean that the bendix (the gear that goes out to grab the front poulie and starts it and then goes back down is stripped? I can't really see it in front of me. however I am assuming you are talking about an gy6/QMB139. so what bike is it? the type gives some good info xD

There should be a washer before the nut that holds the drive face(said piece) on. And tighten that thing down with an impact gun man. LOL

Sounds like your belt is stopping the drive face from butting up flush against the drive boss when your thighting things up,and or your not locking the varitor when thighting the nut.! Make sure you replace all washers, varitor fan spacer/holder ECT.a bit of locktight, impact wrench, should be good to go..there are lots of great and not so great videos on proper belt replacements. It all looks simple in theory, but it's easy to FUBAR things up..😗

What I do is,after I put the belt on the clutch and the varitor drive boss is I pinch the belt together back by the clutch to pull it into the clutch a bit to give me this slack I need at the varitor to keep the belt from wedging between the two faces when thighting the nut up. I hope I explained that Well enough to help you out.

The dished face of the variator has gear teeth around the circumference that are engaged by the teeth of the starter bendix drive. If they are the teeth that are getting chewed, it could be that the bushing the bendix shaft rides in is worn, damaged, or missing. The bushing holds the bendix gear solidly(?) in place so it meshes properly with the variator gear teeth. The bushing is pressed into the CVT cover. If you look, you should be able to discern that there is a bushing driven into the cover. If not, you need to get a replacement. The i.d. is about the diameter of the bendix shaft, either end, as there is also a bushing at the starter gear end insuring the bendix gear there meshes with the starter motor gear. If the variator starter gear plate(dish?) is not tight, you will find it and the variator flopping around on the end of the crankshaft when you take it apart to replace the gear. If the variator plate is tight on the crankshaft, I'd check that bushhing for sure. I would also recommend a dab of grease on the bendix shaft, both ends, to lube the bushing. It is better to have just a smidge of lube rather than the bushings run 'dry'. tom
