Hello.
Does anybody know where I can find a cheap cht gauge?
One that has a sensor like ring under the spark plug or one that can be mounted afterwards.
Cheers Mag

Trail Tech TTO is about $40. Not super cheap, but not awful.

I've had the cheap Chinese ones and they just don't compare to the Trail Tech.

I cant even find a cheap chinese one.... The trailtec seem mighty expensive for thermometer, but I guess you get what you pay for.
Maybe there is a way to buy a semi cheap thermometer and equip it with the right sensor?

If you dont have to buy it right away, usually Treatland will have a sale that usually 18% off. As for non trailtech options its slim pickens for being inexpensive. Iv ran a few of these in different variations( also did a review here) You will need to make sure that they come with the correct temp sensor(TS002 PT100) There use to be cheaper than Trailtech but it seems that they are the same price or more. The only benefit is that the Runleader brand/style you can replace the battery, where as the Trailtech you can't. As for building one up, been there and done that too. its not as easy as it sounds. You need to find quality thermal resistors(PT100). The type of wire you run between the sensor and meter will effect temp #'s. Larger wire gauge/size and long wire runs will add resistance to the circuit and will add that resistance to the sensor's resistance hence a incorrect reading. I built up sensors and tested them in ice/boiling water and compared the differences with the trail tech gauge. If it was me, id just buy a trailtech. Also depending how far away the the gauge is mounted from the engine you will end up buying a extension cable which are usually 10 bucks.
