Hi. Just needing advice what type of lube/grease to put on a starter motor reduction gear on a 1e40qmb type 50cc scooter? Or do you not put any lube on it? I need it replaced as it is causing some shaking noise when on idle. Thanks

I just put a little all purpose/wheel bearing grease on the shaft that it rides on and inside. Small amounts.

The other day I bought some high pressure high temperature grease for that purpose. This grease is sticky and won't fly off the parts and is heat proof and cheap.

Hi man. Does this new starter gear need to be heated up when putting back on the shaft? Feels tight than the old one. Exact same specs like the size and number of teeth.

Neogie,it might be an optical illusion but if the gear on the left is the new one it,s bust it,s out of shape and you will need to replace it.
Geoff
Just try the old one,I can't see much wrong with it,the bearing should just slip on the shaft the plate that bolts on after holds it in place.
