Will an AC CDI work in both a 2 and 4 Stroke Scooter

Hello All.

I hoping someone can help. I have a 2006 CPI Oliver City which I just starting to play around with a bit. I was going to change CDI first to see what change it made. I have brought the two in the picture. The purple has the right plug setup so should have been a plug and play but when I install it the scooter would not fire. I plug the original straight back in and it started up right away again. The blue one I couldn't sort which way the wires went. I tried a few different ways but nothing worked. So if anyone can make it fool proof how to wire the blue one i would be ever so happy. Lastly will an AC 4 stroke CDI work on a 2 Stroke motor?? or are they different?? Thanks

Any AC CDI box should work if all the winding values are similar and wired correctly..A 2 stroke likes a retarding spark curve and a 4 stroke likes advancing,,so it may run on a 4 stroke CDI box,but not its best..

Some cdi’s use a ground to run circuit when others use a ground to stop. You could try flipping your kill switch to off and see if it starts that way. You’ll have to kick start as your e-start won’t work with the kill switch off.
