Just bought one of these. Has been sitting for years. I doubt the auto oiler is working and want to do manual premix anyways.
Can I just mix up 2.5ozs of oil to 1 gallon and put it in the tank or do I have to take the automatic oiler out of the engine ? If the
auto oiler isnt working, can it just stay like it is , attached to the engine , and I just always add premix ? Ty

I am not 100% certain on the gyro, but I would at least cut the oil hose at the carb, bend it over and put a wire tie on it or plug the oil line barb at the carb some other way. Another member here ThaiGyro is the resident Gyro expert here. I am sure he can help you out with any questions you have.

Hi gyro3070, You do have a few options. You can leave in the oil pump, as long as you install a plug on the pump. I run pre-mix direct from the OEM tank...or I did. (Everything is apart currently) The best option is to remove the pump and install a blank plug, which takes up the appropriate crankcase space. Not a big deal, but the pump will be using some energy to do nothing. Looks like this..available from Scootling in New Zealand, or find one for any Honda Dio or similar. I am building a new tank to mount on my Gyro Up, so I can gravity feed and get rid of the vacuum pump. Best to get your self a good quality fuel pump...and install an inline petcock after the pump. They tend to leak fuel into the crankcase...not good for bearings. Another thing to keep in your mind. An NN50 is not the same engine (TB08E) as a Gyro Up or X or canopy, (TA01E) but there are some shared parts, like the oil pump. Your engine is closer to an AF05E, like the Aero50 or Spree.

Your engine is closer to an AF05E, like the Aero50 or Spree. the aero 50 and spree don't share motors, although they have similar part numbers. The spree has a completely different non-variated motor with a very small intake tract and small ports, meant to make like 2-3 hp max. The aero has the variated af05e motor, which I think is very similar to the af18 Dio motor in some ways (mostly cvt stuff).

Ty….can anyone tell me, or show me a photo of which inlet to the carb, is the oil injector inlet line, that needs to be plugged to stop any air leaks ? I know the gas inlet line to the carb is on the left side of the carb { if you are sitting on the 1984 gyro} but I dont know where the oil inlet line / connection is on the carb.

It should be a smaller line coming from the oil pump, going to the side of the carb. And to clarify you need to plug the hole in the carb where the hose is removed from.
If you can easily get to it, loop the output of the pump to the inlet of the pump. One of the plugs posted previously is the best thing to completely delete the pump and properly seal the hole in the cases. That area is air-leak prone in older motors if the o-rings on the pump are deteriorated. It is an easy mod if you can get to the pump ok.

Ty...does anyone know if this gyro should have 1 or 2 ballast resistors ? I have 1 that is hooked up., and another one that wasnt hooked up but attached to the scooter under the seat area.

On my Kymco variant of that motor, there are 2 resistors. I think the bigger one is the load for the lighting when they are not turned on, and the other is across in series with the electric choke.

I have no clue how I missed this but, it should have 2 ballasts although it will run with 1 connected. the oil pump goes into a separate sealed compartment/ cavity/ compartment. so it can be left in with a looped line or pulled out. there is a vent port next to the pump coming out of the case. don't plug that or it can purge air through the oil back to the tank. ask how I know... it also doesn't pull a vacuum either. its just a vent. the oil line goes to the 1 intake manifold port facing towards the rear of the scooter. theres only 1 port on the manifold because the petcock/ fuel valve is operated by a handle or lever under seat. its not vacuum operated like the aeros or sprees
