Scooter has NOT ran in over 10 years. Need help.

Hi everyone. I inherited a 49cc TGB 202T recently. I know it's not worth much and not the most desirable model but it belonged to my younger brother who passed away so it has sentimental value. My parents kept it in a shed for over 10 years and finally gave it to me after asking for years for it.

Anyway, the fun part... trying to get it going again. I'm not a mechanic by trade but ride/build stand up skis so I'm not completely oblivious either, but I can't get this thing running and its fruatrating me lol. Looking for some feedback.

Here's what I've done:
- started with removing the bad gas. Took entire tank off actually. The gas cap was rusted on so banged that out and replaced. Thoroughly cleaned the tank as well.
- replaced all the fuel lines and filters.
- replaced the fuel petcock
- replaced the entire carb with a brand new one. I tried to bring the original back to life but jets were rusted to the carb so bad I decided to just pull the trigger. Peace of mind the float, N/S all works, etc..
- verified that it has spark. New plug
- verified it has compression, guage was 150 PSI if I recall.

So my mind is thinking... I have fuel, spark, compression and i can't even get this thing to idle. I've been messing with the idle screw and air/fuel screw trying to find right setting with no luck.

I have video i'll try and link to as well of me pouring gas right down the intake and it turning over. I keep going back to the carb / gas tank thinking I have a fuel delivery issue, but i can see fuel moving in the lines so vaccuum looks good.

10 year old crank seals are liable to leak badly,might take a look at them,,also are reeds OK?

Didn't think of that... I was trying to see where I could get without having to pull the entire motor though. If it comes to that might as well rebuild it.


Edit: is this the only seal? I can do that with having to pull motor. I thouhht there would have been more than one seal.

Is it a 2t? I cannot tell for sure, it sorta sounds like a 4T in the video.

If it is a 2T, make sure the air filter and air box are properly fitted and not leaking. The 2T's are so sensitive to stable air flow.

I'm assuming it's a 2T. I have not put the air filter on actually. Jusy left carb open. Crazy itz that sensitive.

Check your reed valves. Just in case.

It will never run right with no air filter. Put it back on, tighten everything up and try again.

SUCCESS! Guess what it was... clogged muffler. Stupid dirt dobbers made a nest in it.

Lmao. Ive only ever had 2 bikes ive worked on have that problem. Definately not something your gonna think of off the top of your head

Bone stock as of right now. Going to spend some time on here researching for sure. Ive seen some on youtube with the big bore kits but since this sat for 10 years next step is new tires.

If I recall those are Morini engines. Your go fast parts selection will be limited. I've had good luck with this place scooterpartsco.com and this place www.scootertuning.ca/en/. If you have time to wait This place also has a decent selection, www.racingplanetusa.com. If you go Malossi Scooterpartsco has the best prices. There are some European places that also carry Morini parts.
