3 or 5 port identity question

Right I want a spare engine to rebuild for my DR177 kit.



The engine I have been offered I have been told is a 3 port. I do not know the year but it is electric start and auto lube.

I would like to know if there will be any problems as not sure if it has reed valves fitted to this model or not and if a 3 port is it a simple case of widening the port mouths when stripped and fitting new taller gearing and crank.

I may well be lucky and is a 5 port

From context I'm assuming you're talking about a Vespa 150cc engine, maybe LML or Bajaj?

I can tell ya the 150 I have in my shed is rotary valve, 2 port.

If its electric start it's from a P model possibly.
