Hello this is my first post and probably wont be my last. I have a 2006 Buddy 50 with the stage 2 kit from Scooter Works witch included NYC 70cc big bore, main jets, primary clutch rollers and secondary clutch spring, then finished off with a Prima exhaust. I started with the 95 main jet and mixed a little less than a tablespoon of premix with a gallon of fuel. When I started it up the engine wouldn't rev up and seemed choked up. removed the air filter and cover and once the engine revs up some the Buddy screams! Now I do not plan on running no air filter so I have a pod K&N style and a foam pod filter coming as well as a few different weight rollers to dial in the tuning.
Does anyone have one of these kits on a buddy 50 scooter? Looking for others with this set up to get some ideas.

If you run a pod filter, your going to need to go back and rejet(richer). If you dont, you're going to run lean.
Id personally would keep the air box, it will be much easier to tune.

Stock there was a 75 Main jet, the kit came with a 95,100 and 105. I'm running the 95 now. It wont even rev up with the air box cover on. I was thinking of drilling holes to give it the air it needs but then there is no filtration.

Most stock airboxes have a 'snorkel tube',that needs to be removed and it should flow plenty then..95 seems a bit big for a 70 sport kit...

95 is very rich for using the airbox. 85-90 is probably closer I bet. With a foam filter, your probably gonna wanna be at 105 or better. It'll be rich at mid-throttle but foam filters are lean at WOT. "K&n style" Doesnt work well on 2t bikes for some reason I've found.

The Buddy has a very restrictive airbox snorkel. Removing that may be enough to get you going.

Have fun tuning for a pod filter. Might be easier to tune it with the air box if you are new to 2 stroke tuning. I recommend you buy a main jet kit that fills the range between the 75 and 95 main jets that you have. I also recommend a cylinder head temp gauge before you start soft seizing that big bore.

Thanks guys, I will look at the air box again to remove the snorkel and find the jets to bridge the gap. I will fill you in in the next few days after I check out the scoot again when I'm in the shop.

Removed the snorkel but it is still choked up. installed K&N style and there is a bog in the low rpms until the midrange then the powerband hits and it runs strong. I am going to change the roller weight from 6 grams to 5 and see if the power will start earlier.

The 5 gram rollers will probably be better at getting the RPMs up before the CVT starts to change gears. You might want to put tighter clutch springs on the clutch. I ran the NCY lightened clutch with NCY yellow clutch springs. I also tried the NCY red (stiffest) clutch springs too. I prefer the red springs because the engage at higher rpm, closer to the start of the power band of the bore/pipe combo. My reaction to 6 gram rollers is because I could never really get the performance I wanted with 5 gram rollers or heavier. I have roller weight sets from 3.0 grams all the way up to 8.0 grams. Most of my big bore tuning tends to use rollers between 3.7 - 4.7 grams depending on what pipe I'm running.
