I run the 6 reed that comes with it. except I block sand all the surface of the metal mounting faces. because out of the box, the 6 I have installed were air leaks without a lot of gasket sealer. I also take the pedals off and clean up their surfaces. if you put water in the reed block and hold it up and watch, every one ive bought, leaked. every sealing surface from mounting flanges to reed seating surfaces leak. with out cleaning them up they will run like shit. after you spend a couple hours, you get the performance you thought should be there. ive been wanting to buy some cf reed petals and swap out the stock petals. I have heard the 4 petal might flow better top end but idle and part throttle the 6 smaller reeds open and close faster and easier that the bigger 4 petals. for better response go with 6 if youre looking for all out rpm, go with the 4. at least I think that's correct. I might have it backwards. someone will confirm.

The one I purchased was only a 4 pedal.Iv read where you need to sand all the flat/mating surfaced because of crappy casting/machining quality, which Iv done. I was not expecting the reed block itself was that bad too. Lesson learned.

yup its a great design, just poor quality control, like most stuff for scooters... im sure the polini manifold of the same design, doesn't have as many issues as the cheaper counterpart. but I got more time than money. so ill spend a couple hours to tighten up the gaps and fix the quality. and I get mine off fleabay for under $20 each shipped. A 1/4 the cost will let me justify the extra work. but great way to check any reed block is as I said, poor a little liquid of any type, water carb cleaner, gas, beer and look under it. if droplets of your choosing is dripping out at a good rate, the reed block needs to come apart and cleaned up. I use a piece o glass and some sand paper. glass is a great flat surface for flat surface clean up. mirrors are too just make sure its a flat glass mirror. some mirrors are slightly curved for wider viewing angles or to magnify what you see. ive seen everything from bad sealing surface to extra material that should have been removed prior to assembly. a good reed petal seal might let a little moisture escape but if its dripping like a bad faucet, that needs to be repared

I have a CT intake, but have not run it yet. I also have the the Stage 6 variant of the CT, which I am using on my 100cc build. I am pretty sure I have checked, the S6 reed blocks will fit in the CT intakes. The S6 reed blocks seem pretty nice and come with stuffers. The CT I have is 4 petal overlapped(?) Small petal over a big petal. I guess technically 8 petal. Didnt bother to lap anything, probably should have though.

I run the CT manifold. Mine came with a 4 petal reed block. All I did was lap the flat mating surface of the manifold. I lapped it flat with 120 grit. I did not go finer than 120 grit because in my line of work, if a surface is too smooth (for example o-ring groove, flange, or gasket sealing surface) the whole surface becomes a leak path.

Thanks everyone for all the feedback.
Think I am going to glue some fine grade sandpaper to the surface block and do some fine tuning. See if I can improve the sealing surfaces.
I thought are reed blocks were made the same way.
For example.
The stock 3 pedal block has this rubber like surface where the reed pedals are "seated" on.
On the CT style, that surface was just a cast finish with irregularities that are easy to see.

I have been working on modding a stock Kymco reed block, by removing the 2 center reed seats and using just 1 large CF reed. Should flowmobetter.

4 Pedal get the sheet and make them from Polini or Malossi material if you can't find them .

I hope you do a build thread on the walbro carb build. The thought of a low/hi jet screws to adjust vs swapping jets, that and if that carb has its own fuel pump/pressurized fuel delivery kinda get my wheels turning. I had the Mikuni versions on my jetski's, easy to tune once the popoff were dialed in. SSS sells a setup using the Tillotson HL360A, but have not seen or heard how well they work.
