so I just got my metrakit bbk installed on 1 of the af05e I have. I pulled the cvt and flywheel, stator/ ignition pick up off the motor it is replacing. got it installed in the orange scooter and im breaking it in right now. problem is it blows the low beam a little above idle. and pops the high beam when revved…. this is in the same scooter the stator came out of. same cdi same everything I basically just swapped cases.
my mind is tired and im at a loss right now. any one have any ideas? the tail lights are fine so I think it has to do with the a/c lighting circuit. what did I do wrong? lol

Either the regulator/rectifier has failed, or the ground circuit(green wire) has an break or is not connected to ground.

I think it's a regulator gone bad.

Thanks guys. After a good nights sleep to renew my batteries, I went out this morning and looked it over. Started checking the wires connections from the engine to the main harness and found that the white wire bullet connector was almost falling off and making a bad connection. So I pulled it apart installed a new terminal, reconnected every thing and bingo. That was it. Back to normal. A 5¢ terminal popped 2 5$ lights..... damn. I really think I’m gonna rename the orange tact gremlin or gizmo. I swear the blue aero is the good child and the orange tact is the trouble maker. Always something with this one.... lol Thanks guys.

I would of never thought of that at first, but that circuit is wired in parallel so if you lost the connection to the regulator, you still would be sending voltage to the lights.
Good catch.

I used to blow headlights when I had a bad rectifier.

yeah I was thinking in a million different directions of what it could be last night. than god I was tired and said "ill deal with it in the morning". I woke up this morning and thought it worked with the other motor, same fly wheel and stator. Keep It Simple Stupid, KISS. so I started at thee beginning. first thing I looked at was the harness plugs. I got lucky!
