My 2006 Yamati Eurostrada RX8 is definitely not stock... I can tell just by the fact the valve cover is there.... normally on this model of scooter, there is a simple head. On this, there is a valve cover, protecting a set of valves. The cover has a small point for connecting a hose but where it is supposed to be connected on the other end I do not know... right now I’m almost positive the previous owner performed some form of upgrades to this scooter... first off, they definitely have a big bore kit of some kind installed... I can tell, as the spark plug location is no longer towards the front, but on the side of the cylinder... Second, they definitely removed the large bolts that hold the backside of the cvt in... what exactly the term for it is I do not know, but some of the big bore kits include a new one. I can tell at the very least it’s been torqued up before- there are circular scratches around all of those bolts. The engine model engraved next to the cvt is qj1e40qmb. Another way I can tell the cylinder is not stock is the spark plug boot hits the valve cover a bit when fully inserted. This is with the plastic covers off... I’ll attach some photos below... I need help identifying exactly what big bore kit this is... the valve cover and side of the cylinder both have the same logo engraved on them... if someone could link this to a brand it would seriously help out... I need a new cylinder head for it- but am unsure what exactly will work... the previous owner snapped an exhaust bolt and it’s fused onto the threads- totaled the current head... any help will be appreciated...

And we thought the Chinese only made four stroke expansion chambers, that looked like two strokes!

Youve got a 4stroke motor in there!!Sorry dude!!! Wow, it must be way more modified than the previous owner implied then... you think there’s any chance of finding a new cylinder and valves for it? Or is all hope lost?

Its a bottom mounted engine, the std RX8 had the typical top mount..Either somebody did a lot of work shoe horning a 4stroke in there(MAYBE RESTAMPING THE ENGINE DATA PLATE TOO),or it may be some kind of preproduction factory mod due to emission standards choking out the 2 strokes...Perhaps a California model?? You'll have to start loving a 4 stroke or spin it off to somebody else.. It does look like a standard run of the mill 4 poke,so parts should be easy to find

Do you have access to a welder or a friend that has one? Even if the stud is broken below flush you can usually weld a nut to the stud and back it right out.

Please post some clear pics of the engine from various angles,I'm sure the 4 stroke guru's can point the way!

Unfortunately not... even if I did have a welder, the previous owner tried drilling it out and destroyed the port anyway.... I’ll post some pics of other angles tonight.

Could a moderator or admin move my thread to the 4 stroke section as well?

It looks like a 139QMB/GY6 50, which is the most common Chinese 49cc 4T. I'm guessing some variant of that. I wonder if it has a 40mm bore, which would be unusual for those. The 40 in the number designates a 40mm bore, common is 39mm. Could be some oddball that has a different CVT too.
What worries me immediately is that it's got no engine shrouds on it. Did you just take those off for pics? They are needed for engine cooling.

I haven’t run it for more than a minute due to the absence of the exhaust.

Notably quicker than a stock 50 QMB. Or it's the QJ anomaly engine, which it workable, but a bit more of a pain. The QJ engine will use Jog draive train parts and a 891-17-30 belt. Popping the CVT cover off will quickly ID this engine. Matt
