Wondering if anyone has any suggestions on this. I'm changing the stator on my 49cc scooter. Got the tool to remove the magneto/flywheel thing. Well I guess maybe it had been changed or attempted to be changed in the past because the threads are stripped out. I've got a 3 gear puller to try to get it off but wondered if anyone might have any tips or tricks on getting it off?

If that does not work and it buggers up your flywheel by puckering it try a two jaw straight like this . Just be careful when you grab the flywheel from the back don't grab your stator and crush it and if you have some heat use it just warm the crank up don't melt it . two

No offense intended here. Don't know your experience. But it always needs to be brought up. The threads inside the flywheel are usually if not always left hand threads. If this looks like the puller you have then: You have to turn the puller CCW to install it in the flywheel. Be sure to back the inner bolt out first so the puller screws in completely. Then turn the inner puller bolt CW (right hand threads)in and turn with a wrench until it pops off. If the threads actually have been buggered try to fix them up a bit.

Put 2 of the fan bolts into the magneto facing opposite from each other, weld a metal rod to the vise grips, clamp them onto one of the 2 bolts and using a hammer slam the rod or whatever you welded to vise grips away from the magneto,I have done this multiple times works great, for really stuck magnetos switch between 2 oposite bolts until it breaks loose, but usually you wont even need 2 bolts it will probably come off after few hits
