Long time no see.
Err. I figured out the gas in the air box was from leaving the petcock open. My bad.
So... I don't understand what is happening. The scoot is running really bad. It ran pretty good in the spring and summer and seemed to run even better in the colder days. Around freezing.
We had some snow and the throttle froze. After it defrosted, the scoot would not start by electric or kick.
I changed the plug still no go.
The next day it started right up and it rode a bit then mysteriously stopped. I had a large glass fuel filter on it and saw no gas was getting to it. Shaking the gas tank and turning the petcock to off and on a few times got fuel into the filter and I ended up making it back home. The distance was about a block. I decided I may as well change the oil. The oil looked good. No metal flakes This would be the 3rd oil change since installing the BBK.
I decided to work on it today. It started right up but ran rough when giving it gas. I changed out the fuel lines and put in a normal lawn mower type fuel filter. It started but when giving it gas it would rumble and back fire and eventually die if I gave it too much gas. I know the jetting has to be changed for colder weather but it has ran fine at these temps before (34F). I noticed gas in the airbox, which I think is from leaving the petcock open. My bad. This never happened with the large fuel filter on there. Anyway, I removed the air box to see if it made a difference in the way it ran, it did not. Is re-jetting the answer or should I look somewhere else?
I have a new carb coming and some ignition parts, and CDI just some easy things I can change out. What do you guys think?
Thanks.

Is the filter a metal screen type or a paper element type ?

The current filter is a paper element type. The filter I had on before was this big one.It ran just as badly with either filter but the big one, with that installed gas did not leak into the air filter when I left the petcock open. That thing would cause some weird vacuum.
