Has anyone seen this ball in a pd18j carb?? It is not attached to anything. I probably have 15 of these carbs and never seen this ball. Is it some kind of restriction part???

Speculation . . may be associated with the "charcoal canister hook-up" passageway on some carb variations?

I have seen at least 5 different variants of the same carb, the parts can fit from one to another but they usually dont work right, although they look basically the same, that's why I buy whole new carb rather than replacing individual parts

I want to see if the ball should be kept or removed. I took off all the emissions crap. It is just a metal ball smaller than a BB and it comes right out. It just seems to be taking up that space.

The ball is a check valve. Trace out the passageways and see where they go. Figure out the purpose.

I looked at your post the other day and wondered the same thing . I have never seen one with the ball in it ever , i even went to all my manuals can't even find the ball on the parts list ! I have taken apart 100 or more of them and that is the first time i have ever seen that wild ! Man the casting on that carb is horrid the mold that came from was done years ago , that is probably the issue with a lot of lowend carbs they don't function right because of the old molds and machine work or lack of machine work after that casting issue .. Good question you posed stumped me you had me looking in manuals I have all the old Kymco ,genuine, and more not one has that on the parts list ...

It came on a qmb139 49cc 2011 scooter. For now I just put a 44mm kit on because I had it already and removed the PCV system. Should I use it with the ball or removed it. There are NO springs or holes under it just solid metal.

i have ball but not on the banana thing. it is on a generic unrestricted pd18j carburetor there is a ball in the fuel pump, but it is completely different than this little ball in the carburetor

I had one if memory serves me right but I am sure it was accelerator pump side but not sure it was not where that one is but down a gallery with a very small spring not much bigger. I remember because I dropped both on the floor and we're a sod to find.
