So i am probably doing something wrong therefore i am asking for advice. Everything came very nicely packaged and all. After i installed it, i had to use my car battery to help it start (maybe my battery was too low idk just putting this in in case it corralates to the issue) Anyways, after a few things it started right up. It sounded a bit louder so i knew it would go fast, it went to 40 ish MPH and it began slowing down and eventually shutting down. I read that it might need a better carb so i bought one and also a cone airfilter, messed with it again and went for a ride and again, slowed down after 8 min on the road and again it shut off. Idk what to do, i want to buy another exhaust for it but i don't want to throw money away. Someone please help. P.S: i also put new oil and gear oil in it.

Did you check piston ring end gaps before installing the piston? Did this kit have a head with it? Have you done a compression check? Are the fan and shrouds installed on the engine? Have you done anything to the carb? Not just replacing it, but tuning it?

Did you check piston ring end gaps before installing the piston? Yes i made sure to seperate the gaps
Did this kit have a head with it? It did come with a head but i did not installed it.
Have you done a compression check? I have not done this yet.
Are the fan and shrouds installed on the engine? The fan and fan cover is but not the shrouds.
Have you done anything to the carb? Not just replacing it, but tuning it? No i just installed it. I don't know if to get new jets or just leave it as is.
Thank you for your quick respond admin. 🙌

Yes i made sure to seperate the gaps Good, but I meant measuring the end gaps. It did come with a head but i did not installed it. Compression could be very high. That would cause problems with the electric starter, potentially breaking the kickstarter, and can make the engine run hot and experience detonation. Kits can vary quite a bit as far as where the piston sits in the bore and the crown, but usually the larger kits that they call 100cc (50mm+ bores) don't like the stock head without some other sort of adjustments to lower compression like an extra base gasket or modifying the combustion chamber or a thicker head gasket. The fan and fan cover is but not the shrouds. Don't ride it like this. Put the shrouds on. It can overheat this way. The engine needs that air from the fan directed over it to stay cool. No i just installed it. I don't know if to get new jets or just leave it as is. Even if not the cause of this issue, I always suggest having a selection of main jets around and tuning the carburetor. There's a range that jetting should likely be in, but I think it's best to do some trial and error tuning with main jets and make sure you're getting the most from your mods.

For the above reasons it may have soft seized. What did the ring end gap measure? Remove the head and see if there are vertical marks in the cylinder. If so, then it did. Fixable. Replace rings and gap properly. Remove and sand (crossways) off vertical marks and polished high spots from piston. Cylinder should be honed to remove marks. Wash really well with brush, Dawn and hot water, rinse well, immediately dry and lightly oil.

Thank ya'll for your responces!! I will get to this today and hopefully get you answers later. I probably will have to order some jets as well, i don't kknow if there is a common size i should get though...see ya'll in a bit
