Hello all,
I have a ruckus with an R6 tailight. Everything is plugged in correctly, but my brakelight is always “on” and is it thinks a brake is being engaged. Is there a solition to fix this? Any help would be appreciated.

Put a multimeter on the leads from the lever and see if it the lever is busted and sending it a signal while it’s not engaged. Then put the multimeter on the light side on the brake lead and ground and try the lever again. You are trying to rule things out. Rule out the lever, then the light, then the harness. One of those things is busted.

Expanding on lilpinny, there is a brake light switch attached to the handlebars, at the base of the brake levers, on both sides, for F and R brakes to turn on the light. If either switch gets jammed or stuck, the light will stay on. You can look at the switch and see the 'pin' that the brake levers move(push) to turn off the lights when you release the levers. If that pin gets stuck 'out' or is broken, the switch will leave the light turned on. You would pull the brake lever and look near the lever pivot for a plastic pin to extend when the lever is pulled. If there's no pin, it may have broken off, or a different design was used. Check the other side to see if it has a pin, and you should know. If missing, a new switch would likely be in order. You can get individual switches from overseas, or perhaps your local dealer. You could disconnect the electrical on the side with the broken switch so the other side will operate the brake light properly when the brakes are applied, but should replace a broken switch as soon as feasible. tom

Thanks fellas. Looks like i can see the pin moving in and out. Ill try to disconnect one or the other and see if i can slim it down to which one it is. I’ll try to order a new one from a dealer or something as id like to get OEM.

Lots of people remove the OEM controls and replace them, so lots of OEM leftovers are in people’s garages.
