Hey fellow scooter fans,
so I'm new to this, but have some mechanical know how, i recently bough a 2004 vivacity, high miler and it hides many sins, anyway, when i bough it it worked fine but within a few days i was having carb issues, it was constantly overflowing, tried messing with the float and pin but no joy, even bought a rebuild kit but also no luck.
Anyway, i was recommended to buy a used carb as mine seems to be faulty, so i did that, get a used one cleaned it up, gave a quick once over, fitted it. and got hey running again with a little fiddling with slow running etc. Result !
But....
I took it out for a spin after a little warm up time, and it seems that this new (to my scoter) carb isn't fuelling properly after about half throttle. Idle and up to about 1/4 throttle is fine, and when it should pick up like a 2 stroke does, it bogs out..
i'm not too good with the finer details of carb tuning but some pointers in the right direction would be much appreciated!
thanks

thanks for your response Harleyracer, being a real noob now, could you explain to me what a vacuum leak is and how to cure it ?
Also is it worth trying the main jet from the previous carb? that seemed to work much better ? i hope it fits !

in the tech library, there are better instructions. but the gist of it is, start engine let idle, spray carb cleaner brake cleaner or starting fluid around the mating surfaces and seals. if idle changes you found it. make sure you keep spray away from carb inlet. or youll think you found it but you really sprayed into carb and caused change. as for jets. the almost all have # on them. the higher the number, the bigger the hole, the more fuel it supplies engine with. which richens the mixture.... if old carb and new carb are the same type/ manufacturer. pull them both read numbers off them after you look at the plug color, use the jet that goes the right way. bigger/ richer smaller/ leaner. plug chop info is also in tech library. do one thing at a time. then start up to see if your going in right direction. change too many things at once and you end up chasing your tail. rookie mistake. weve all done it. dontb be like me... lol
