I recently installed a 80 cc kit on my gy6. But I haven't done much else with it yet, pretty much still stock otherwise. Now it backfires when I slow down and it actually seems to go slower with the bore kit. I have an adjustable carb and I am trying to tune it, but its not helping much. I plan on upgrading the exhaust and air filter and getting a derestricted cdi. Would this be the correct way to go? And would increasing piston size without upgrading the filter and exhaust cause the backfire? Any advice for a newbie would be appreciated.

What have you done while trying to tune the carb?

It's an adjustable carb. It started of set pretty well for the 49 cc. I readjusted the pilot jet for more fuel. But it was backfiring before I adjusted it. It's set mostly "open" I guess. More fuel thru the carb. It is running better than before I turned it up/open. I am sure it still needs some tuning, but I don't know how much the exhaust and intake is affecting it either.

What size jets are you using?
