‘99 Yamaha Jog
Blinkers not working and taillight not brightening when brakes are applied. Blinkers light up when switched, but do not blink. Taillight lights up when running, but does not brighten when brakes applied.
-Battery connected (bad battery that still holds 10.5ish V, but have new battery arriving in mail today)
-recently replaced rear brake cable
-worked prior to me doing a bunch of work to Scoot
-have checked connections and cannot find anything disconnected or loose
Any input of direction would be appreciated. I’m fairly confident when it comes to electronics, just not great at diagnosing.

I have a DMM and a lot of electrical equipment for testing FYI.

Are you sure the filament isn't just burned out on the tail/brake bulb? Do you have 12V+ (or whatever batt voltage is) going to the brake light bulb when the brake levers are used?
Check for a burned out turn signal bulb as well. Should be easy since they light up. If none are out, probably the flasher.
Since the battery is showing up today, I wouldn't toss the flasher till I made sure it didn't work fine once it had 12V or more.

Possibly you left a ground wire loose somewhere? Very easy to do.
Did you try the front brake to see if it will light up the stoplight? Possible that the switch is bad for the rear brake lever.

It’s possible that there’s a weak or ungrounded connection somewhere. I’ll triple check later. And yeah, the same symptoms apply when the front and rear brakes are applied. I’ll also run through the other troubleshooting stuff 90GTVERT mentioned. Electronics can be frustrating as hell sometimes.

Worth mentioning,on my 04 jog the brake/tail bulb has an offset pin and it,s possible fit the bulb the wrong way, probably not your problem but ey ho. Geoff

The best connection for your testers ground lead is the - battery terminal. Open ground connections can be a POA to find! Start where you find a solid 12V. Move along the circuit till 0 is found. Measure resistance from there to - bat. If 0 ohms is found, the problem is between there and the last place you found +12V. If I had the patience, a minute of meditation before beginning would probably help. But I don't, so throwing things helps.
