Finally was able to use the zx50 to go to work this week. I had done the green wire splicing on the CDI, but it was still rev limited and held the moped around 38 mph. I drove to and from work fine on Wednesday. On Thursday I drove it a few times during the day, but when i tried to get home it wouldn't start, seemed like a no spark scenario. When I went back to it Friday morning it started up fine, and I was able to get it home friday after work.
Now this morning it wouldn't work again. I checked it and have no spark. I'm thinking it's a CDI issue. Could my attempt to derestrict it have fried it somehow (it never ran without a rev limit as far as i could tell)?
Is there a way to test whether it's a CDI issue or something else? If it is, is there a way to repair this one?
I threw it in the freezer to try it again, like was suggested in another thread.

Started up after 45 minutes in the freezer...
So that's it then eh?

Pretty much. I had the same thing happen to me once. It died shortly after I modded it. The feebay one I ordered to replace it lasted about 10 miles. I dont remember what I ended up doing. I have a blue aftermarket CDI for a GY6 someone spliced up that works. It was on one of the kymcos I picked up. It is around here somewhere if you need it.

If this would work I'd go for it. Anyone know if it does for sure?

Naraku cdi's are good quality and never let me down little bit more in price but worth it for peace of mind.
