I need some help from you guys. Gonna finally be tearing my engine apart for a crank, bbk and gears. I ordered the malossi gears for a yamaha jog (what i have). I know i need a new gasket but do i need any new bearings or seals? The bike has less than 3k on it unbelievably since its from 1996 but when i opened up the cvt it was so nice and clean! Except for a little bit of belt dust. So yea, any help?

I would At least change the seals. Seal kits are quite cheap. You could look and see what condition the bearings are in once you open it. If you don't need to use it every day.

I would at the very least replace the crank bearings and seals. on the transmission or gear case, any seals you need to remove I would replace as well, any bearing that you have to remove, remove gently and the correct way. don't beat them out and expect to reinstall them and function properly. with the money you've spent on a crank cylinder and gears, it would suck to cheap out now and damage those $100's of parts because you didn't want to spend the last 100 (just a guess) on gaskets, bearings, and seals....

I don't get it? why cant you start putting it back together? if you have the crank bearings. and you say gasket. do you mean gasket(s)? your gonna need bottom end/ cases gaskets, the base/ lower cylinder gasket, head/ top gasket, and trans/ gear case gasket. you can install crank bearings, install crank, mate the cases, gap/ install rings, piston cylinder head. take your time. start messing with gear case. by then you should have those bearings and seals. seals are the last things installed anyway. I would build and pressure test motor then mess with trans. patients and timing are every thing. don't rush though a complete rebuild. especially if its your first.... youll miss or forget something and then youll be making a new thread about "why is my scooter doing or not doing this" lol

Lol yea youre right about that. Only motor ive ever put together was a 49cc 2t pocket motor...it didnt last long lol. I have all gaskets and everything just waiting on the gearbox gasket and bearings now. Wanted to take the case to get the gears pressed it without having the cylinder or crank on for weight purposes. But i guess i'll just take the whole thing apart this weekend.

Quick question... are the malossi gears a short shaft on the narrow gear? I bought Jasil 15/50 preformance gears for the jog but they were way to big. I’m stumped as to what gears will fit my jog JT 50 motor. Thanks Mike

2smokeruck... I have a 2016 Adly Gta 50 2 stroke and the engine stamp says JT 50 and a bunch of numbers so I’m assuming that is the model of engine I have.
