2009 Honda metro CHF50S. It was running but sat a while. I have replaced the carb, fuel pump and filter, ignition coil and spark plug, removed and cleaned fuel tank, new fuel. Has spark, about 135 compression, and fuel to the carb. Rear brake on and main kill switch off. Will turn over but not fire up, not even with starter fluid. Is there any safety kill switches I don't know about? Kickstand lock or seat lock have anything to do with it? Thanks for any input Troy

Has spark, about 135 compression, and fuel to the carb. . . Will turn over but not fire up, not even with starter fluid. VERY puzzling . . be sure to post whatever deficiency is eventually found! Might look at timing. Insert a probe into sparkplug hole to determine piston TDC, then observe where the flywheel reluctor is in relation to the pulsar/trigger/pickup coil. Sometimes the flywheel-crankshaft woodruff key will shear, part #7, which throws off ignition spark timing.

Yes a strange one,the air filter assy needs to on the engine for a good start from cold,is the plug wet with fuel, have you set the mixture acre to factory?

AFAIK, the kickstand lock only affects kickstand. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.
I will test and confirm when I get home too.

you said you have spark right? if so then that eliminates any "safety kill switches" otherwise you would not have any spark.

I’d say an air leak. Whenever it gets weird like that, and it’s been sitting, there is a leak in there somewhere.

A magical weapon that always helps me to start an old bike is to squirt some gasoline directly into the carb itself.
I do suspect an air leak as well, but it should start at least with the choke on. It wouldn't run good, but it should start. Unless the air leak is hella big. Then you got problems.
damaged reed valves would act the same. You said it sat a while, so they miiighhht have a slight chance of getting corroded. (Damaged reed valves do not impact the compression reading)

damaged reed valves would act the same. 4t bike. No reeds.

check those crank seals!!!!!! i just worked on one this morning an it was doing the same as what you are describing. sprayed starter fluid in carb an all it did was pop a few times an that was all. i needed to replace the drive belt so i started working on that an when i got the cover off i noticed a lot of oil residue all over behind the front variator. so i took that off an got a good look at the crank seal an sure enough it was worn out!!!!! i can feel air blowing out of it when cranking over the motor it is leaking that bad LOL.. if your crank seals are not sealing then it will not let the fuel/air mix get into cyl like it is suppose to. i'll bet $ that is whats wrong with yours also.

4 stroke bike. If you have spark and fuel to the carb inspect the valve clearances.
