Luckily I was able to kick it over this morning but when I tried to hit the electric start this morning I got nothing, thought it was a dead battery but it seems when I hit my front brake the rear brake light isn’t engaging, any ideas how to fix??

What model scoot do you have? It could be a fuse but is probably the brake light switch. They are switches that when you pull back on the handle they close the circuit. Does the light come on with the other handle? I have had a rash of switch problems lately. Pull the one you have so that you can get the correct one there are a lot of different ones out there.

It’s a tao Tao champion vip 50cc and yes the left side rear brake lever will engage the brake light, just not the right side front brake. If you have a part number that would be awesome! Like I said it worked fine on Friday, went to start it this morning and nothing.. I’m glad I fixed my kick starter like a month ago.

Follow Brents thread in the directory: 49ccscoot.proboards.com/thread/647?page=1#8038. It will show you how to systematically trouble shoot the system. I don't know tao tao's so I have no part number. The switch may be disconnected or have a bad lead. When you pull back on the lever does it click? I would pull the switch after checking its connection and go to Partsforscooters.com and find the one that matches yours, the have a 10% off sale right now.

IMPORTANT! Check out the switches and make sure the brake light comes on EVERY time either brake lever is used!

I did, like I mentioned the problem fixed itself, it was the switch from the front brake. This weekend I’ll be installing my 47mm BBK wish me luck!
