I'm new to working on 2-strokes. have worked a good bit on cars all efi so I'm not great with carbs.
I have starting working on my first 2-stroke and been trying to get it to start and stay running. at first it was the fuel which after a lot of fiddling, changed it out for new gas and she was right as rain, but it would stop out of now where. the previous owner described this problem as it would lose power while driving down the road. after cleaning out the gas tank it would run for about 2-3 mins and now it its more closer to a min. have tried tuning the carb by putting what looked like the main and the idle screw all the way in and tried 1/4 of turn out and running the bike and the bike dying and repeating until the screw were way too far out. have cleaned out the carb with carb clean apart from the area at the bottom of the carb which i think is the bowl. but filled it up in the tube gas comes in and let that sit for ten mins and drain it out the screw at the bottom.
my current idea is that its running to lean as when i pull back in the throttle cable quickly and let it back to closed it will stay running for a lot longer, around 10 mins. from my understanding when you pull back on the cable quick an efi step-up would add more fuel down to 10-11 afr. or something to do with the electronic chock engaging and again leaning the bike.
Have though about checking the spark and ground it and got nice blue spark but havet gone any further with that testing.
I am a bit at odds, don't know what to check next. if there is an list of thing to check on this forum if please point me in that direction.
Below is a link to me not being able to start the bike with no throttle, being able to start it and not able to keep it alive with a small amount of throttle and it dying , and keeping it alive longer with me revving the throttle but it still dying
