I cannot quite figure out is my scooters MPH showing the miles driven in kilometers or miles?? I KNOW a certain road I drive is 1 mile out and back. But if you look at my speedometer it looks like it shows kilometers? OR is it miles?? I believe the road I drive is a mile out and back BUT I think it shows kilometers? Anyone know the answer? It is confusing because I THINK it is registering the scooter in miles not kilometers because some roads here are 1 mile apart and it looks like it when I ride it down these roads it is 1 mile. So why would it say kh/m? I also think it shows my speed in MPH.. anyone have a scooter like this and know the answer? it's a Gator 50 QMB 139 49 cc chinese scooter

Find to roads that are 1 mile apart (not about) by 1 or 2 American odometers. At 30 miles per hour that will take 2 minutes. Now do some basic math. 1 mile = 1.609 kilometers. 1 kilometer = .62 mile. It is just simple proportions. Take your time. You'll feel good afterwards. Ride the distance (flying start) note the exact time and odometer reading then note the same at the second road, pull over and write them all down. Go home sit down with pen, paper, calculator, and beer. Have a good evening.

That is what I did and I believe its reading in miles. If that is the case why does it day KM/H on the right? as for total miles I am almost sure its miles not KM/H

Yep. Some gauges have both on them, with two sets of numbers. On yours, they did not put the km/h set of numbers, but forgot to eliminate the "km/h" notation. You can see it is smaller type than "mph." The km/h numbers would have also been in smaller type to match. If your odometer shows that 1 mile has registered when you ride from one road to another known to be one mile apart, you have your answer. If, however, it shows much MORE than a mile, like 1.6 miles, then it is showing you km/h. You won't need to do any math, if you know for sure the roads are one mile apart.

The '30' where the red line starts is generally the expected top speed, in mph. In klicks, it would indicate closer to 50. The top number shown is 50, and it would be indicating 80 if it was kph. I agree with all the above suggesting to find a mile marker pair, and check speed & distance displayed. Likely the speedometer will indicate 35 or so while you are actually going closer to 30. Or not. Chinese qaulity cnortol. tom

Definitely MPH. If it would be KMH, the speedo would show up to 80...
