So I've got a 2018 taotao atm-1 stock, save for the new carb I put on last week. The issue I was having was a ton of hesitation from 0-10mph,it seemed bogged down. The slow jets I ordered after replacing the carb, to put it bluntly, are crap. Pretty sure the plating on them is the issue. The 32 in the carb, I moved up to 35 and it is actually worse than the stock 32 slow jet that came installed on the new carb. Is there any other perfunctory checks I should do before taking the carb off and testing the slow jets for one that will work? Right now it will only idle with a little throttle assistance.

How may turns do you have on your A/F screw with each jet change?

If the engine bogs from idle, when you jazz the throttle, and stumbles or 'falls on its face', check the accelerator pump linkage on the side of the carb. Most have a thin metal blade that moves when you start to open the throttle, pusning on the accelerator pump shaft. The shaft sticks up vertically, rearward of the linkage on the right side of the carb. It pushes down, and squirts a jot of liquid fuel into the intake when you first open the throttle plate. No squirt, and the air takes off as the throttle opens, leaving a chunk of air with no fuel that couldn't get going fast enough to mix. Stall or stumble until the liquid(DENSE) catches up with the air(LESS dense, quick to move). If there's no stumble, it could be the clutch is grabbing before the engine has increased revs enough to produce power. Not much power at idle speeds, so it has to rev a bit to get going. If the springs in the clutch are weak, the clutch will grab sooner. tom
