Hello,
Ok, I've been having an issue with my 49cc 4t "other" Chinese model scooter. It will only start for a minute at a time, and any throttling immediately kills the engine. After doing a bunch of trouble shooting and checking out this awesome forum, I did a resistance & VAC check on the pickup and exciter coil wires from the stator, as shown in a video here. Pickup coil was within resistance spec, but can't get any readings on the red/black exciter wire. Complete nothing. Does this mean I need a new stator?? My scooter has very low miles...238, and I replaced the carburetor about 10 miles ago because the other one had been worked on by somebody else before I got the scooter and it wouldn't start/run properly. After replacing, the scooter ran great for about 10 miles, then it sat in garage for about 3 months before having the problem it is having now.
Am I missing something, or ?? I am a newbie to scooters and really appreciate any help!

It sounds like a fuel issue. That it starts at all would rule out the exciter problem. Just to be sure check and see if you get spark. Did you clean the carb before installing it? even new carbs need cleaning to get dust and stray metal parts out of them. Did you replace it with the same size carb and are the jets the same size? How many turns out on the A/F screw? Are you using the stock air box? Let us know these things and it might help us get to the bottom of your problem.
