Maybe a silly question but is your entire fuel system clean, pulled the Carb apart and cleaned out all the passages and jets?

its going to be pretty lean with no exhaust but if its still dying most likely not the exhaust but if its running better its most likely not helping things better either. hmm maybe you do also have an ignition problem that was compounding with bad reeds and an exhaust thats on its way out. 49ccscoot.proboards.com/thread/11007/coil-on-plugheres a write up i did on a coil on plug conversion youll most likely never have an issue with the ford coil i used in the second link in that thread. i got an ebay special one it was less than 7 bux shipped and i have really strong spark. check your spark after you get it hot and it starts dying vs fresh and cold. if your spark is gettting weak with heat its deff the coil. i havent had a cdi box go bad on my 2t or 4t bikes in the past so i cant say for sure on that.

im laughing right now because of how many times a vehicle would show up at the repair shop i worked at and wouldnt run or would start and die and a very good chunk of the time the remote start or aftermarket alarm would be to blame. hopefully that solves/solved your problem.
