Eh, people use them. But do yourself a favor and do plenty of research here before you do anything at all. A pod filter is a big mistake IMO. You will pull your hair out trying to tune the carb, ruin your gas mileage, and make it considerably louder. A 2 stroke is extremely sensitive to even the slightest change in fuel/air flow. That's why in your other thread it was recommended you completely go through the fuel system/carb, because that is likely why the scoot is acting as you describe.

if your not willing to spend more than what the scoot was purchased for you dont need to modify it.
2 strokes operate in a balance so you never can really just change one thing.
you change the pipe your air fuel needs change, you get a new carb now you need diff air filter. then it runs diff and you need to change the cvt then you need to change the gears it never ends.
do some research spend your money wisely and get a good exhaust. and stop worrying about how much you paid for it and worry about what you want out of it. sometimes you can search around and find some used parts that are in decent condition and maybe that could help.

The price for an eBay pipe that has a chance of being baffled and restricted, you could get a decent mid range pipe that’s cheap ($100) from Leo Vince. For the money they beat the lower end Technigas pipes that have said to have some type of baffling also. I have a Leo Vince TT and ZX and for what I use the TT for, it is perfect. I also agree that it can get expensive, but if you want quality/reliability use good stuff. There’s a chance that there won’t be ANY gains with one of those Ebay pipes. Another option that’s a good price is the NCY pipe, they are loud though, nothing some silencer mods can’t fix. The NCY pipe has proof gains on dyno courtesy of YouTube.

Ive measured the Ebay pipes and they are waaay off from being a tuned pipe!Angles and cone lengths are whatever they have laying around..Best to save up for a proven pipe and dont look back!!

New pipe, no air box, and pod filter...
...I see some soft seizing of the bore in your future.

The pipe pictured on that Dio in the pic would be nice to buy and cut up and remake for a project bike !

If you are looking for a quieter street build don't sleep on the Naraku Traffic. www.partsforscooters.com/137-14-Naraku-Traffic-ExhaustMatt Like others here have mentioned, I'd recommend staying away from the eBay options. It's just not worth it in the end. Generally when building a 2t, you can (and most likely will) easily exceed the cost of the bike during the build out phase. If you use cheap parts, it'll just cost you that much more when you have to replace them with something proven.

I bought this pipe for my Vino, just to play around. In the end, it does make a good bit more power, and more than anything, allows the motor to rev to over 10k RPM so top speed is improved.. That said, I had to cut it into three parts and re-weld it to even fit onto the bike. It also used a piece of PIPE inside to align two pieces of the header part of the pipe. I spent nearly an hour grinding this out, and after it was welded up, it made even more power, but after all this, I see proven good exhausts for $160-180 and nice used ones for $100, I certainly would not waste my time and money again.
