I just bought a 49cc Chinese scooter. Since about the 150 mile mark to now (250) I’ve had the same problem. It starts, idles, then dies 10 secs after, when I hear it go out I give it some gas but it just stops. Then I have to give it carb cleaner to the air intake and take off once it starts, sometimes it works the first time, and others it dies 100 ft later and I have to repeat. Once I go for about 100 yards it runs great and starts back up as long as I don’t let it cool off. Had the enricher and petcok replaced. Still hasn’t solved it, could I be flooding it or something? I’m so lost

It sounds like it's running off of the carb cleaner you are spraying into it. Have you pulled the carb apart? Try taking it off and tearing it down, cleaning it completely, run something through the removed jets (don't enlarge them), same with the emulsion tube. Compressed air is helpful too, just don't blow the jet out of your hand and across the room

They took the carb apart already when I was there. I’m curious if I could be flooding it. The shop that sold it told me to open throttle three times then hold it an 8th open when starting. Then when the enricher kicks off I give it more gas, it will stay running but I open it up and it dies. If it was flooded, would the cleaner start it and run it until it burns off then die again. Until eventually I burn off excess fuel and it starts to run fine? They claim they tore it apart too to bottom and everything is running fine, and they ran it three or four times no problem. In that case it has to be something I’m doing

Check to make sure the fuel tank is vented.
