That is lean. You got it backwards about covering the intake. If you cover the intake and it improves the engine you have a rich lean condition because you are cutting off the air flow and its getting a better fuel to air mix. Likely issues are bad connection to intake, intake cracked where you can't see it, bad seal on the intake to crankcase. Having an engine rev high is a symptom of an air leak, I would chase that down before you get a soft seize.

Back when i had a problem if i covered the air intake and it started it was because it was to lean. Not sure how you get the opposite. And yes it could still be some lean but not much. Im guessing there is an intermittent leak but everything's super clean an so far cant seem to find leak. Thr rubber gasket on carb was good when i installed a few months ago. . When i find my propane torch i will try that technique. I guess my edit didn't take Anyway i was gonna say when it idles high ot doesn't start i know the problem is again happening . Right now it idles beautiful after ripping down the riad it comes back and sits very nice at 1700. Starts right up.

I had a Hyosung that drove me nuts. I couldn't find the air leak. I let it sit for a few months, when I came back to it all was fine. I still have no idea where the leak was.

I wonder if say just a pin hole leak and if it sits for a while and then just sediment or debris from the air seals it for a while, idk, but i have the same frustration.

Ok so i got my torque spring amd pulled the scooter all apart again. I planned to separate the two rear pulley halves. I removed the big nut and spring but the 2 halves wouldn't come apart. I tried prying the cover and it would not budge.!!! How do I get these apart? Had to put it all back together. I want to inspect tgr pins and track, i know there is something definitely wrong with the pins sliding smoothly and the belt up and down.

Thanks for the reply. I had a thin screw drver and hammer, the cover still wouldn't move 😔. Been looking for a new rear pulley any suggestions on where to order one. I am looking for a less angled groove version and new pins.
