I read somewhere that a large part of the vacuum's power goes to the braking system. If this is true, would a hydraulic brake with no pressure affect other parts of the bike other than the obvious no brake? Could too much air intake be attributed to the vacuum being too powerful since it is not supporting the brake system? Thank you

if youre talking about vacuum assisted brake systems, as far as I know of, only automobiles use those. scooters and bikes use hydraulic assisted disc brakes (some drums on older M/C also) or cable operated drums (and some smaller bike discs). they are putting ABS on bikes and scooters now, but these are applied electrically. as for autos, if cam is too big, engine wont produce enough vacuum to work a vacuum assisted booster. in these cases, owners will run hydroboost systems using hydraulic pressure from steering pump to assist in braking. others will use an electricaly boosted brake system, these use an electric pump to create hydraulic pressure to assist in braking. or you go old school manual braking where how hard you push is what you get. these were popular back in the golden age of muscle cars. hope this answers your question

I think it does, I forgot to mention, on a 2 stroke 50 cc scoot. I couldn't really see how the two were connected but I thought I'd ask just to make sure. Thanks

On a scooter the engine's vacuum has no relation to the bike's braking system. They are entirely separate. Matt
