Hi folks I've got a 2006 TGB R50x scooter and I am trying to remove the flywheel to replace the stator which is bad. i've tried number of different flywheel removal tools off eBay but none of them work. the 6 way tool that I just ordered said it fits a 10mm thread (which is what this is) however the thread is not long enough to fit the tool how do I get it off?? please help!!

Go to harbor freight and get a steering wheel puller only thing else you need is long 6mm studs to screw into stator bolt holes, here is a pic from my l.c conversion build

The way I did it was with one of these: www.harborfreight.com/bolt-type-wheel-puller-set-62620.html. You will need to get your own bolts to fit the threads on the flywheel. It will pull it off in short order, maybe a little PBBlaster if it's a little stubborn. Why do you think you need to replace your stator? I will warn you that not every year works with other years. My stator and flywheel were trashed by a bad crank and I bought a new stator and flywheel from 2 different suppliers. The flywheel was for a different year than my stator. The engine would start and run but no lights. I talked to TGB USA and they said there had been a change and the 2 weren't compatible. Here is my thread on my 2007 R50X. Keep us posted on your progress.

Just remember when you screw in the 8mm bolts don't go in to far or you will damage your stator

Keep us posted on your progress. I am repairing / refurbishing a 2006 R50X that's been sitting idle for quite a few years and will not start. So far i've done a bunch of work on the carby and fuel supply as it was all gunked up, but now I'm not getting any spark at all. I've replaced the spark plug and checked the resistance in the ignition coil, and so i'm fairly sure it's the stator. the main reasons being that I read that the stator on this model of scooter is known to be weak and i live in a very dusty part of australia. I know there are 4 pole stators and 8 pole stators - mine is an 8 pole and i've ordered a replacement that's also an 8 pole. *fingers crossed it's the right one* but...I would certainly welcome any insights you have !

Wow look at that. No wonder it's not working. Don't lose the woodruff key. Little suckers just call out. Never to be found! A build thread would be cool.
