The answers are probably already in here somewhere, but... The Beamer was running fine. Rode about 10 miles, stopped for about 1/2 hour, rode the 10 miles back to home. shut it off for about 5 minutes. Started back up. Rode about 100 yards and it died. Just died. No sputtering, just died. Would not restart. I don't see any spark. Plug looks good. Installed another plug, just because. I have 12vdc going to CDI. It's a DC CDI.
Checked resistance of ignition coil. Here, I'm not sure. Secondary reads at 10.26K ohms. Primary reads at 0.2 ohms. I think this is NOT good, but I don't know.
This is an '05 Eton Beamer 49cc, 2T. Where do I go from here? I Don't know if I can test the CDI. I hate to spend $70, or so, on a new one if I don't need it.
Also, does the coil need to be removed before checking? I did not remove what appears to be a ground wire from the coil.

Found CDI module resistance specs on line. I'll check those tomorrow. Also, online service manual says resistance reads for coil are within specs.

LOL make sure your kill switch is in the on position That's the first thing I did,(after making sure I had a full charged batt.) And, yeah, the kill switch. I actually thought about checking the kill switch just as I was ready to crawl into bed. Ran down the steps, to the garage, just to make sure, 'cuz I have been known to not think about those simple, obvious things. So, thanks for that.

Looks like the cdi is bad. Now, I'm worried that I'll spend the money, order a new one, and then the new one will fry because of some other issue. So, I'm wondering, what can cause the cdi to go bad? The Scoot is 14 yrs old, but has less than 4k miles.

They are at least inexpensive and easy to replace.
