You mean one of those things that is in the cover to line it up to put back on.? That would make sense. But apart of all my issues at the moment with my scooter i hear this rattle somewhere in engine when i rev it and it is alarming. I wouldn't think one bolt or so not in cvt cover or one of those out would csuse the noise. And i really thought it fell from engine port.

It defiantly looks like a dowel. Only two places on your scooter have them. Inside the engine cases. And CVT cover. It should not effect the engine too much of one is missing from the CVT, as long as all the bolts are in. Can you do a video of the noise?

Great idea ! The sound does not happen when its on its stand , only after I rev it and take off. But there were other problems that were occurring. I purchased a new Malossi variator last week , had a new Polinni belt for a few weeks. Well the variator clips/guides hung up and never allowed the variator to move properly so is was hanging up cockeyed or just stuck and it wasn't performing or getting close to top speed . I think I melted the belt and after several days of trying to figure out whats wrong, it appears the belt is not snug in the variator( I noticed a lot of black gunk inside the cover, which I think is the melted belt. I replaced the guides and went for another ride but that new bad sound is still there and it will not go anywhere fast even at high rpms and then this sound. The place I bought the belt is sending a new one., what a mess I really need my scooter for transportation I have to put the pipe back on . I have to ride my bicycle up to harddware store to get some sealant and close it up and I will do the video down the street and back . How do I put video on here ? Thank you.

It looks like you were right , thank you ! My cover appears to supposed to have 2 round slots for those and one was missing . So that mystery appears to be solved. I still have to figured out the tin sound ( kinda like ballbearings pinging around ) when ride it starts right away when take off but not at idle and not reving on stand. I am waiting for a new belt because I believe I burnt the new Poini belt and wore away so many millimeters it will not grab any longer causing it to slip more and go now where. I will bolt the pipe on and rife up and down street and do sound video to help identify the sound.

Are you sure that isnt one of the bushings for the cooling fan attachment bolts? If so the rattling is probably the fan bolt that has come loose rattling around inside the cooling housing. I know because I had one come off on my old BWS100

if it sounds like ball bearings rattling around only under power with weight, are you sure it isn't detonation ping? that or piston rattle? but piston rattle would be heard at idle and deceleration aswell. does it make noise when engine is cool/ first start up, or when warmed up, or both?. you might need to pull cvt cover and plug so you can rock the crankshaft back and forth, up and down to see where it is coming from exactly. happy hunting

So after reading back here my posts sound pretty confusing if I do say so my self.
The little cylinder that I found in the grass was one of the small dowels for cvt cover fitting. Then also that tin clanging sound went away, So it might have been being thrown around inside the cvt area or the cover was rattling from being loose. But that problem is no longer.

You might be lucky, and be able to clean the grease off with brake cleaner. If it's contaminated the pads though. They will never grip properly. Good luck.

Oh i sprayed, sanded and sprayed more. Today i realized its gotten in to all the nooks and crannies so I took everything apart every little part and got SOS pads and a hot bucket of water and scrubbed every little thing that had oily greasy waxy film on it. Im going to keep that clutch off till i know this gunk is gone.
