Can someone elaborate on the difference between the vertical and horizontal Minarelli motors other than the orientation? What is the practical difference between the two, other than parts availability and such? It seems like the verticals are more popular and desirable among the Zuma crowd, but I've always been a horizontal guy so don't know much.

The bug eyes have the same motor as your Jog and Parts in the states are very easy to come by. PreBug has the vertical motor and parts some times have to be sourced from alittle farther out
2002 -2005 bugeye TEikEI Carb has adjustable needle and idle screw . Mikuni jets fit Cat free pipe and air box stock. The stock gears 14.6 to 1 They need to be swapped out 209 pounds of stability but also hold back acceleration.
2008-2011 BugEye Better gears 13.3 to 1 still too tall Stock EXhaust has a cat and is junk Non adjustable needle and idle in stock TEikei carb
Pre Bug 13.3 gears should swap out Cat free pipe Stock dellorto carb manual choke easy swap to a better one 17.5 mm or 19 mm 190 lbs of better acceleration

Literally just purchased an 08 a few minutes ago hahaha. Going to pickup tomorrow. So the carb is not adjustable? Wow, never heard of that other than on the gy6’s with sealed carbs you have to drill out.
So I should be ordering a new carb with my exhaust lol?

Will a 19mm be alright to run on a stock cylinder until I put the BBK in it?

Here is a link with pictures to fix the 2008 Carb. www.zumasrus.com/zdox/ztip6.htmlAs far as the 19mm you can run before the bbk. Depending on which kit you buy you could run stock carb like I am with my malossi cast iron bbk . Just upjet to a 85 mikuni or get a84 teikei from the yamaha dealer

Is there a way to mod the carb so that the idle can be adjusted?

I'd prefer to run the stock carb until I install a 19mm with a BBK.
Thanks for all the Zuma specific info btw!

While I'm at it... anyone have an extra stock carb, in decent shape, lying around they wouldn't mind getting rid of? Can definitely throw a couple bucks your way.

Yo can just take a drill bit right to the cap that covers the idle screw Go slow and then you will have access.

And my Mikuni jets won't fit I'm assuming? Debating how much I want to put into tinkering with this carb and buying new jets and such when I could just spend the time and money throwing the BBK and a new carb on it. Starting to seem like that may be the better route lol.

the mikuni vw 11/22 jets fit somewhere between 80 and a 90 is what works with a piped kit.
You can shim the the 2008 carb needle with a very thin washer .
