It is not clear to me and I haven't been able to find an answer regarding the automatic electric choke/enricher used on GY6 4T engines. My questions are as follows: - If I unplug the electric connection to the auto electric choke/enricher, does it default open (more fuel) or closed (no or less fuel)?
- If, once warmed-up and then the engine is turned off to make an adjustment, does the enricher reengage when it is started-up again within a minute or two the same way as when the bike was cold?
The reason why I am asking this question is that, up until now, we have always warmed the bike up and run it for 5 mins. before we start assessing the final tune. We do that every time that the bike is turned on, regardless of whether or not it was just turned off for a couple mins. before it was turned back on. We are wondering how the enricher interacts with the carb when the bike is turned on each time. Obviously, we are trying to tune when the enricher has already been through its cycle and is not interfering with or skewing our tuning results.
Thanks!

On a 139qmb, The enricher uses a 12v heating element to expand the plunger and plug up the enrichment passageway. If you unplug it, it will always be in enrichment mode.
It doesnt immediatly cool off and restart the enriching process completely over again. I didnt time it, but i think it was long enough to pull the bucket, flip the carb over, pull the bowl, swap jets and reassemble. I still allow a few moments of warmup time and a minute or two of riding before making a tuning run, im not sure how neccessary that is.
If you were that worried about it, you could wire up a switch or somthing to the enricher circuit so it maintains 12v while swapping jets.
