Stator that came off my aprilia motor has 4 wires. But looking online most bikes have 5-6 wires. Anybody know why the other stators have added wires? Also what are those other wires for? Thanks

I know Yamaha changed their stator in 04. The early version has 4 wires. The later ones (6 wires) have twice as many poles.

Is the original a DC CDI set up? They have a different harness since they don't have a separate power coil for the ignition.

I only have the motor Im doing a motor swap into a different chassis that didnt have a minarelli motor. So Im debating which stator to buy (most common) seems like 5-6 wire is the most common

Find out what the wire harness is of the new chassis, and get a matching stator for it. You'll have less headaches down the road.

I’ve been looking at that or the hoca (or ssp-g if that’s what it’s called now) that parts for scooters sells. Really just depends on what kind of power each puts out, but I wanna get one too. Definitely interested in this topic. Maybe we can each buy one and do some testing or something.

Im focusing on the chassis and wheel first. I just have a bare aprilia case at the moment. Also need to work on the wire harness. Its a long term project

Well maybe I'll find the answer for us then. I'll try to keep this thread in mind. The last two major upgrades I have in mind that I haven't purchased yet are the lightened flywheel and an over range. Neither are cheap... especially those damn over ranges.

Ive always been a polini fan after runing the corsa and comparing it to malossi's mhr rep. And cast iron bores. Also had some bad luck with a BNIB malossi full circle crank for my dio. So im not gonna gamble my $ on their OR kit. I like stage 6 parts too but they are nvr in stock state side so that leaves polini.
