Where are the springs that hold one clutch shoe to the next clutch shoe ? It appears from video you have plenty of clutch pad on each shoe .

The 'shoes' are made of 'pot metal', and have broken. They no longer pivot on their hinge pins, and the springs have pulled them enough to contract the spring fully, or as much as they can. I would not attempt to replace the shoe 'carrier', but would do a complete replacement of the whole assembly. The link to GY6STORE is a reasonable replacement, and their are many other sources. I had one with bearings that made noise even after lubricating the pins. I replace that portion, from a clutch that had exactly the same problem, broken shoes, and it is still not right. It seems to engage very quickly, and I am not too certain things line up properly as it seems the belt is making noises. I am going to order one from DaRiver as it offers the lowest cost and free delivery. tom

That video the OP posted showed a clutch shoe spring missing (wonder where?). That floppy shoe also shows the shoe pivot pin and clip still attached. I'm guessing the pin is broken or broke loose from the backing plate. Unless you have fixing capabilities, you will need a compatible clutch at a minimum.

Wow, this forum is awesome. Thank each and every one of you who took the time to answer my question. It seems like if I had the knowledge, I could repair it. But wow, thanks for the ideas and diagrams. I’m gonna order a new one right now!

A stock one will work fine . www.partsforscooters.com/151-232_Clutch_shoes_qmb139Here is a similar clutch similar specs from a good vendor with other parts for your scoot every other month they usually have some kind of 10 or 15% off special that we keep track of on here. They also are helpful on the phone to make sure your getting the right part . Dexameth on here works there.

I have no bias for or against any supplier. DaRiver equates to the Amazon, longest(?) river on the world. Or an online shopping/distribution/web provider. Their delivered price varies from $24.50 to close to $100. I went with them as my previous supplier(VMC) raised their price, and their shipping was about 1/3 the cost of the clutch. Maybe I am judging the retailers harshly, but shipping costs become significant when ordering one or two items, and perhaps worse when ordering more. I went with the low cost supplier as the clutch is intended for a machine that will be sold. Current clutch works, but is a 'combo' of parts from two. One with blown shoes and one with noisy bearings. I think the tolerances make it not work exactly correct, so am getting a replacement. tom
