I picked up an older 2008 passportz 50cc scooter and it has been sitting about seven years, it will turn over but has no spark at the spark plug. The horn works and turn signals work, the only fuse I found is good and am wondering if it could be the CDI? I am in the process of locating a service manual but wonder if I might get some help here?

For what it's worth, the ignition key does not provide any voltage for an AC CDI. It just un-grounds the output and enables the CDI. If you have a DC operated CDI, you will need a working 12V battery, AND have the key or actually ignition switch make contact and power the CDI. From reading and one CDI(Kymco) the DC models are larger than the AC versions. You should also be able to monitor the AC produced by the flywheel/stator windings that powers an AC CDI as it should pop out ~70-ish V AC when the crankshaft is spinning. ... Then you have the 'fire' pickup... and the coil... and the wire... and the plug itself. I believe there is a 'how to troubleshoot spark problems' post on site. I am not good navigating here, and basically just come to the main and 2/4T trouble shoot and perf sections, straight there, so am not much help. tom
