It's that time. Time to postpone the build for Sketch Razzington and look forward. To the future. To The Beaton Beamer.
An 02 ETon Beamer bought with title from what I assume had to be a crackhead. If not a crack head then crackish ( does that tell my age?)... Wrong flywheel, stator didn't have the ground wire attached so no fire without a battery to graound the system ( the hell if I understand this, the only thing I saw was the ground not hooked up,but it drew fire with a battery?). The 27*1 left hand thread puller fit the stock Beamer flywheel but not the one on the Beaton.
New bearings gs and seal kit from the wonderful PFS as well as a new Naraku 70cc cylinder kit are among the best bits to go on this poor beast. The exhaust will be the old Technigae I bought from. 2strokd a few years ago, will use a modified stick head and the blue CDI mod I discovered here.
The seals and bearings went in today which surprised me, last one I built I fought with bearings for a few days. This time a few hours to split the cases and separate the bearings and an hour to reassemble it all.... I expect problems because things went so smooth.
Gonna use the standard 18-19mm Mikuno carb, 2k clutch springs yellow contra modified lightened stock Jog clutch. It SHOULD pull wheelies right from start but honestly I'll be happy if the damn thing starts at all.
Will pistmore details as I proceed.

Got the engine assembled today. Matched the base gasket to the cylinder, then had to match the cases to that. Ugh. Packed the Carter with modeling clay and went at it with files and a Dremel. No way to actually remove all the material in the way, but I was able to gently blend it a bit. Hoping it works out alright, at this point I expect everything to fail.
Opened the gear case and changed those bearings and seals I had ordered a kit for Jr and just got too lazy so figured this one would benefit from it and was sort of surprised to see how nice and "new" the gears looked. No wear marks no chips. Should be good to go.
Swapped the rear pulley and clutch out for the Jog90 unit and lightened clutch with 1.5k springs and a Yellow Malossi torque spring to replace the squishy soft stock one. I may have to use the blue or white one I have this one is kind of tough.
Tossed the stock exhaust on it and am waiting til tomorrow to let the copper rtv dry before I slap it in the frame.
The damn brake cam was locked up on this Beamer too. Took me forever to get it to work. Torch and home made nut buster (1:1 acetone/atf) and a half an hour later I could wiggle it with vise grips. Another half hour it's working right.

And it's dead.
Compression is great (135)
Spark is bright and loud.
Gets fuel. No air leaks. Still will not start. I am at my wit's end. With the and this and other IRL shit I am teetering on a bad edge.

Take a breath, walk away and come back to it. It’s not going anywhere.

Ugh. Got it to fart at me anyway. Kick start will get a pop or two, e start gets nadda.
Plug is new but I am going to get another one today if I get a chance. Then I'm going to pull the head, and maybe the cylinder to see if there is anything I obviously messed up.
Tried three carbs and two exhausts and got the same result. Killed my battery last night, and the kick is working at about 75% so every one of four kicks gives me a grind noise noise but no rotation.

Are you running an air filter?
Maybe try cupping one hand over the carb to choke it while kicking. I was running into an issue trying to get my Venice going. After manually choking it I finally got it to fire up.

Yeah stock air box. That wasn't the issue.
I checked compression when cold obviously. Was great. However there was the smallest leak (well about 8mm of surface) on the bottom of the head gasket that leaked when fuel and spark we're added to that compression.....idk.
Swapped heads back to a factory one, instead of the modified one I was using and fired first kick. Firs. Damned. Kick. Surprising how strong it pulls with the old Technigas pipe too. Figured it would have problems "hitting" the pipe and be a dog til it did. Well, it has a little trouble revving that high but it has enough ass it came out from under me on the grass....
The speedo doesn't work (yet) so no idea of current top speed. Was pig rich with an 85 jet so I dropped to 80 and may have to go to 75 here soon.
VERY VERY VERY PLEASED WITH THE LOW BUDGET NARAKU KIT FROM THE WONDERFUL PFS. Has a lot more low grunt than the Polini on Jr, obviously not fair to co.oare the two but by God the kit is amazing. For 70$ it CANNOT BE BEAT...

Holy shit. This little mofo is disgusting. I mean it's just nasty. Wheelies every time. It's almost thrown me four or five times today and I still wanna try again. I may top out at 42 right now, for the minute, but I got ALL THE TORQUE.

Oh yeah, used the rear signals and center light from the Razz just took em off the chrome monstrosity and installed them to the plastic one on the Beamer.
Running it naked for now til the teething pains have the build.
Also need to find a gas cap because I managed to vibrate mine away on a test drive....

2stroked has that BBK Smile
So now we know Naraku with the factory head works well together with lots of torque . If i pick up a flip bike I now will grab a Naraku Kit

Well I did at least have it running. Something is wrong in the electrical system now. Was going down the road fine at about 38mph and it shuts off. No lights, no spark. I rightly shit a brick. Get it home and discover the fuse has blown. No big deal. Unhook the battery, replace the fuse and kick it over. NO SPARK. Now that's odd. It started fine without a battery last week, and this stator is from Jr, who always ran on a large capacitor and never a battery.
Hook the battery to it and it Sparks just fine. Something isn't right. Swapped the R/R to a known good one. Same thing. Swapped the stator itself out for the one that came on this bike. Same thing. I am guessing something in the CDI is unhappy. The battery has been attached since the first test drive.
I looked but couldn't find any shorts anywhere. Not sure wtf os going on. My wonderful luck strikes again I guess. I truly loved the fact that I could start the bike even if the battery was completely drained. Now I do too have that safety feature. One more way for me to get stranded. Blew my brand new multimeter up this morning too. So I have NO clue if the charging system works or not. What a wonderful fucking day.
