so i have a 150cc gy6 i did the gaskets on recently and i cannot for the life of me get the exhaust valve into spec. when i have it in timing the valve is compley closed even if i take the adjuster screw completely out i cannot get a feeler gauge in there. intake is just fine idk wtf im doing wrong, this is also not my first time doing valves and yes piston is top dead center.

Rotate the crankshaft while watching exhaust valve. See if it makes a gap at any point and compare that to your TDC marking.

idk what needs to be explained about doing gaskets lol, any ways i can see no visual difference between heads or the rocker housings i have but i just swapped them out and the new one was better, still have no clue have done 100s of 150cc valves never had that issue i couldnt even get my smallest feeler gauge in there. was also the same set that wouldnt go back in to spec i took off woulda just ben swapping the head gaskets and jug 1s but either way guess its running for now.
and ya no change on my tdc mark, the funny thing is with the valves that tight it would start right up. just made a lil noise was all.

You need to be TDC on the compression stroke. If you are TDC on the exhaust/intake stroke you will get exactly the problem you described.

One sure fire easy way to do valves is remember this acronym:
ICEO Intake Closing Exhaust Opening
Turn the engine over until the intake valve opens all the way and starts closing, then set exhaust valve lash. Then turn the engine again until the exhaust valve BARELY starts opening then set intake valve lash.
This method works on any engine

What I would do to double-check is put a pencil or something long and thin in the cylinder hole and check top dead center that way because most of these engines the flywheel Mark can be off so check it that way and then double-check your valves make sure those are lined up

forgot about this thread weird how im just now getting notifications my valves were done correct ive owned lots of these bikes the past 15 years and have never had this issue the only thing i did was swap rocker arms and my problem was solved not sure what was wrong with the other set, like i swapped the housing and everything had a complete spare set.

So are the holes on the timing chain sprocket not a reliable way of doing it? (Having the big hole up with the two little holes perpendicular on either side)
