found and interesting picture on the net.
i've always read about the aftermarket canister exhaust to be "half wave" but i could never find a nice cut away picture or a good explanation as to how half wave exhausts are designed. from what i see here, this must be what the inside of a V8 looks like, inside the canister.

That seems about right? Here is a video of a TWH exhaust cut open. I believe it's about the same for v8.

chadbullet that TWH pipe that Samodel cut open is more like a full chamber pipe with cap style silencer. it just does not have the conventional stinger and tube silencer like most chamber pipes. That TWH pipe is like the Peace Pipe that 90GTVert was running. interesting handiwork of 190mech in the form of the Peace Pipe. the "half wave" only has 1 cone. the exhust does not taper to the belly of the pipe like the TWH. the TWH's end cap disguises the fact that it is a full chamber. with the TWH there is a continuous taper all the way to the belly where the mount tab is welded. with the half wave, the runner hardly expands along the way, then it rapidly opens up to belly and then to reflection cone. the half wave does not have a conventional expansion cone.
